Walls of Heartache is the work of two local music fans from Walthamstow – Andy Strickland and Dave Duplock.
We decided to put this night together because we’ve been to a few Soul/Northern nights in and around London in recent years and always ended the night with
a conversation that runs something like this: “Wouldn’t it be great if there was somewhere in Walthamstow that we could go to once a month and listen to some of this great music, have a drink with friends and maybe
even shake a leg to some of our favourite records. Oh well...”
We’ve not been into the scene for years and we don’t have several rooms at our homes stacked wall to wall with original Okeh and Cadet releases. But we do
love the music and our vinyl collections are growing alarmingly.
Eventually we realized that the only way to get a night like this going locally was to put it on ourselves. That’s what we’ve done.
So Walls Of Heartache isn’t the place to come if you’re hoping to hear, and see, that very rare 45 you’ve been after for years. It is the place to come if
you want to hear the best of the artists that appear on our flyer and loads more besides.
We’ve got some exciting special guests lined up to DJ – some regulars on the scene, some not. So if you like 60s soul and can get to Walthamstow on the last
Saturday night of the month, you’re very welcome to Walls Of Heartache.
